Plumbago flowers have a delightful way of angling themselves toward the sun in a bustling, overlapping group of periwinkle. Sharp, pointy buds emerge from among those delicately-curved petals.
The freshest petals are a pale light blue, while the more mature blooms have taken on a deep lavender shade.
For a time, I chase a gigantic bumble bee (the kind I have only ever seen here in Portugal) all around the blooms— before giving up to settle in on the quieter, more peaceful scene shown here.
And this is why I love macro; I have never before noticed the gorgeous pattern woven into each delicate plumbago petal.
