Yorkshire Fog - Holcus lanatus - Jacki

from $19.00

One day, I stopped to admire some charming sheep’s bit flowers (so named because sheep in Ireland apparently love to eat them!)— tiny, fluffy balls containing a plethora of still tinier blooms.

Sadly, heavy rains had rendered all the flowers waterlogged— shimmery, but no longer photogenic enough to spend an afternoon photographing (though I did try for an hour or so).

However, that morning’s rain had also drenched many grasses, leaving sparkling arrangements of delicately overlapping droplets. Each bead looked more like an underwater bubble of air than a droplet of water. The morning sun had blessed each with a dazzling white light, while the blue sky was deftly reflected by the larger beads.

As it turns out, soggy grass can be as inspiring to play with as a colorful flower.
